Ely and Papa

I was down at David and Malika’s for a few days.  While down there Ken came down for a few hours.  This picture I took of Ken and Ely. This ring, Ken father Guy made for him while in Vietnam during the war.  So it is a very special ring to him.  Maybe one of these days that ring will be handed down to a grandson.

This picture I did of Ely.  I think it’s  pretty cute one.  I’m happy with the pictures.  But it does show you that it takes a lot of pictures to get a few good ones.  Although, I didn’t take that many picture at their home.  But of all the pictures I took these two were the best.

I hope to be getting more of these pictures as her bother and Ely grow up…

Well here is Nathan Risley.  Malika and David now have their second child.  Ken now has his second grand-child and for my it will be my second step-grand child.  It’s nice to see the family growing.   Nathan is only 6 days old and has a whole world open up to him.

With his parents, grand-parents and great grand-parents.  He will have an great support while growing up.

Ken and I look forward to being involved with him and his “BIG” sister’s life.  It makes me think about the future of this world.  With Nathan and Ely we want to give them a world that they can enjoy life and live life.  So it makes me want to make sure what I do in this life helps them in the future.

I give a BIG WELCOME to this little guy.

Well today is our 5 year anniversary. Did we do anything special this year. No we didn’t, we did go to a neighborhood party and we both hugged and kiss each other in the morning.  We didn’t even do that when we first got up.  But we both new what day it was.  Just haven’t done any big this year.  But I guess you don’t need to go ALL out every year.  We both know we are still “friends” and still “love” each other and that’s the important thing….

Well another one down and many more “HAPPY” ones to come and looking forward to them.

We had two Christmas get togethers.  One at my parents house last weekend and the other at Ken’s dad’s house.  It’s always nice to get with people you care about this time of year.  This year has been rough but everyone made it threw just fine.  Plus I few good things did happen. One being my mother received a Kidney transplant in Feb. Which her changes of getting one was not very high.  She has been doing very well since then and her health has improved.  Also Malika and David got pregnant this year and will be having there second child in Feb, which will be a boy.  Bryan is working on getting his CPA as I type this. Ken’s family is doing well and so is my family.  Next year should be even better and more fun.

We had a nice family gathering.  It’s nice just to get together for no reason at all. We had a good turn out of people and the weather was also good.  At least while everyone was eating. We did get a down pour right when a few people were leaving, but didn’t lasted long.

A year and 47 days. That’s how long it took for my mom to get an kidney.  The call came about 12:30am on Feb. 26, 2009.  Which happens to be our anniversary (Ken & I).   You wait for that call all this time then when it comes you think what do I do now..

My mother headed down to Tampa General Hospital around 5:30 in the morning.  I tried to go back to bed after we got the call. But that wasn’t easy.  So I didn’t get that much sleep that night.  I got up around 7am and see what was going on.  My mom still didn’t know if she was really getting the kidney.  Only that the Dr.s were doing a lot of tests.  So I decided to call and see what was going on.  She was indeed going into surgery to have a kidney put in.  I then went and called my dad.  Which my mom surprising hadn’t called my dad yet.  So I did.  I guess with everything going on, she really didn’t think about that.

I headed down to my mom’s house to help clean it up.  Then headed the next day down to Tampa General Hospital.  By then she was already back in her room.  It took around 8-10 hours for the surgery.  Everything went well.  The kidney started working right away, which was nice to hear.  It was an 22 year old kidney and a perfect match.

I ended up staying down there for about 7 days.  I had to do that until my dad could get home.  To help my mom out with there house. I stayed at my sisters house for a few days.  When they were ready to discharged her she was ready to go.  Frankly so was I.  I got tired of staying around the hospital.  It was nice to go.  The kidney has been working great so far.

It is amazing that they can do transplants now like this.  My mom will always have to have to medication so her body will not reject the kidney.  So she will always be under a Dr.s care. But at least she is not on dialysis and is still alive.  She is getting her life back… She has a long recovery but in the long run it will be a BIG change for her. She will not have to carry that dialysis machine around when ever they travel.  Also she can start doing hobbies she hasn’t been able to do for a while.

A family had to make a decision on weather to donate there love ones organs.  This may have been an easy decision or not.  But that decision has made my mom’s life so much better.  I would just like to thank that family for doing that.  I use to carry a organ donor card, but it has since gotten losted. I think I’ll start carrying one again.

Christmas day went well. Ken and I went down to pick my mother up. Then we headed to Ken’s sister house were about 16 other family members joined up. Not everyone was there, but I guess that would be normal for big families. My dad was working, so he couldn’t be there. Hopefully next year that will be different.

Everyone enjoyed them selves all day. We got to see some people that we don’t see all the time. And was able to talk to people and see what they were up to and had planned for the next year.  It’s always nice to be able to get together with the family in a big group like that..

Christmas Pictures

Yes I know I’m a bit late in writing about Thanksgiving. But better late then never.

My husband and I decided to drove down to Apollo Beach. His dad has a house down there which we have been going to for about 3- 4 years. My mother and dad come along also. But this year my dad was working so he couldn’t be here this year.  We went down to pick my mother up then headed down to my father in laws house. We got there a little before 11am. The funny thing is we had probably the longest drive then anyone and we got there first.

Quite a few family members were able to show up. We probably had about 20 or so people there. Its nice to have a big group of people. It’s easier for helping out with food and setting up.  So one person doesn’t have to do everything.

We stayed there until around 7pm.  So we really enjoyed being with the family. It’s nice to get together with family you don’t get to see a lot during the year.  I also took pictures of course. The only thing that would have been better is if my dad was able to be there.  Well maybe next year will work out for that.

Oh and Ely is walking now. It was great to see her walking…. She is really coming along in her progress to grow up.

My Father In Law turn 80 years old today. The whole family got together over the weekend to celebrate his birthday. I hope to be as active as he is at his age. He stays young by being involved in the things he loves to do. We all can learn from that. Everyone at the party enjoyed them selves just by being there. It’s always nice to see the family together. Not everyone was able to show, but as big as Ken’s family is that’s probably normal. Not everyone can be there.

If Guy keeps this up he will be celebrating his 90th soon.
